Working toward getting a fighting chance in Congress after 2010

This is a work in progress...a work hoping for progress.

The focus is on eliminating Republicans in Name Only from Congress and

encouraging moderate Democrats to make the right decisions.

Our conservative values must prevail!

I am just one citizen wanting to preserve America as we know it,

and as it was designed to be by our founding fathers.

There are thousands of websites out there like this because

there are thousands of us who hope to make a difference.  You betcha!

I hope you will strive to make a difference, also.

March 17, 2009

Went to the Red Sox Spring Training Game.  A win -- 9 to 5 -- over the cross town MN Twins.   Fun on St. Pat's Day as the team suited up in white uniforms with green lettering and a big shamrock on the sleeve.  Three homers, on by BP, and a chance to see the young Japanese pitchers.

But heard on the way home AIG is being investigated for encouraging unsound investment with comments such as "this is a good company," "don't worry," etc.

Remember Bawney Frank saying Freddie Mac and Fannie May were sound?  What came of that?  I gotta find those clips but he and Chris "Dirty Drawers" Dodd should be in jail!

Outrage Over AIG Bonuses/Retention Offers

While AIG launders taxpayers' money and makes payments to other banks and even overseas entities with its billions in bailout funds, further laundering is being done via $165M in "retention bonuses" paid to AIG execs.

The Offal Office claims to have only learned of this last week but, check out this December 11, 2008 CBS News report, which cites, "...so far, no one's stopping AIG from paying millions to some employees in its new retention program. The company has told 168 employees they'll receive between $92,500 and $4 million per individual if they stay with the company for one year. That angers some on Capitol Hill."

Of course, this was written under GW's watch.  You'll never see this under The One's overlook.

While the Senate was constructing the $787 billion stimulus last month, Sen. Chris "Dirty Drawers" Dodd added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. The provision, now called “the Dodd Amendment” by the Obama Administration provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009” -- which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are now seeking to tax.

Dodd’s original amendment did not include that exemption, and the Connecticut Senator denied inserting the provision.

“I can't point a finger at someone who was responsible for putting those dates in,” Dodd told FOX News. “I can tell you this much, when my language left the senate, it did not include it. When it came back, it did.”

Oh, by the way, "Dirty Drawers" Dodd was AIG’s largest single recipient of campaign donations during the 2008 election cycle with $103,100, according to opensecrets.org.  Guess who was second?  That's right, Obamanation himself collected over $101K.

National debt hits record $11 trillion

To be exact, the Debt now stands at $11,033,157,578,669.78. Divide it by the U.S. population and it comes up to over $36,000 in debt for every man, woman and child among us.

We can only hope the voters see this news and that this unimaginable number has major ramifications for He Who Sits in the Offal Office as he tries to push through a raft of big-ticket bills on health care, energy, education and climate change while cutting medical benefits for our military.  Read the story.

A Challenge for Sen. Arlen Specter -- Poke Him With a Fork -- He's Done?

Some of my conservative friends think Specter won't run again, health issues.  But if he does, there is good news.

Former Congressman Pat Toomey announced this morning that a Primary challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter is now 'back on the table."  Toomey lost by a small margin when he challenged RINO Specter last election.

Given Specter's abysmal poll numbers in Pennsylvania right now, this is interesting, to say the least.

Russia Weighs Cuba, Venezuela Bases

This story was front and center on The Drudge Report and other conservative sites yesterday but gone today.  I didn't hear one conservative talk show host bring this up, but admittedly I spent most of today with my very liberal employers so didn't listen that much.

Is this the crisis Joe "Mighty Mouth" Biden predicted?  I don't know about you but I live

The "Card Check" Bill AKA "Employee Free Choice Act"

Were you, like me, incensed when the auto industry unions refused to give but a millimeter of their pay, bennies and retirement to help save the auto companies?  Do you, like me, want to buy American but find the prices so much higher, and the depreciation so much more escalated, than imports?

Well, here is what the libs want to push through now, in case you hadn't heard.

The so-called Employee Free Choice Act would let unions organize a worksite once 50% of employees sign a card saying they support a union.  No secret-ballot election would be needed.  Supporters claim this is necessary because workers are intimidated by companies to cast a vote against the union in secret, but are only too happy to express their true feelings to a union steward.  Yeah, right. Read more.

Wonder why unionless Walmart's sales are actually up and the auto manufacturers are ready to tank?  How about an average compensation of about $80 per hour?  And they won't give a little to keep their jobs?  Boo, hoo!

This Will Suit You to a Tea!

Can't find or attend a Tea Party near you?  This was forwarded to me via email recently from good conservative Marion S.  Please take the time to read it AND take action.

There's a storm a brewin'.

What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet?

Washington has forgotten they work for us.  We don't work for them.  Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer.  I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan.  I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes.  I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar.  I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford.  I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes.

I, like most all of you, am a responsible citizen.  I pay my taxes.  I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make.  I emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first.  No one listened.  They voted for it, pork and all.

O.K. folks, here it is.  You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference.  Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!!  If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes, if you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA.  There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens.  What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.

So, here's the plan.  On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington , D.C.  You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG. Many cities are organizing protests.  If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up.  If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG.  Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way.  Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.

This was not my idea.  I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Party' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1.  Why, April 1??  We want them to reach Washington by April 15.  Will you do it?  I will.  Send it to: 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington , D.C. 20500 ..

Forward this to everyone in your address book.  Visit the web sites for more information about the 'New American Tea Party'.  I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1.  Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready.  What will this cost you?  A little time and a 40 something cent stamp.

What could you receive in benefits?  Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people.  Take out the Pork.  Tell us how the money is being spent.  We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.  Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.

Of course, if you agree with the way things are being done now, just delete!!!!!

Thanks, Marion.  From little acorns mighty oaks grow.  Sow a little tea and maybe we can save America from socialism!

Europe Says "NON" to Obamanation's Global Stimulus Scheme

The G20 summit is this coming week.  Poor, lonely Treas Secy Tim Geithner headed over to lobby for a "global stimulus."  This follows White House economic czar Larry Summers' last weekend call for a "global stimulus," which leaders in Europe roundly rejected Monday.

The Obama Administration came into office promising to listen to its friends and allies, so when Europe says "non" to gargantuan spending, maybe the President and his advisers should listen.  Read the story.

The Rush Limbaugh Billboard

The Democratic National Committee has completed its 3-pronged plan of attack on Republican Grand Supreme Commander Rush Limbaugh. Caleb Howe has an in-depth report on the actual making of the sausage.

The DNC touted that some 80,000 slogans were submitted.  Ummm, Michelle Malkin and other conservative bloggers and writers encouraged conservatives to send in their own.  Somehow the DNC doesn't say how many they received in support of Rush.

No, here's what they say once the slogan was
chosen and the billboard designed:

"That's our answer to Rush. And we'll put it on a
billboard right in his home town, so he can't miss it.

"Americans know that when President Obama
succeeds, we all do. It's time to leave behind
partisan attack politics and stand behind the policies that will strengthen and renew America's economy."

Pardon me?  Leave behind partisan attack policies?  Rush Limbaugh attacked no one, least of all Obamanation.  He said at the CPAC Convention, "...what is so strange about being honest to say that I want Barack Obama to fail if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation? Why would I want that to succeed?"

Why would any of us?

Here's a rebuttal to the DNC's billboard and one that is probably what they would have liked to put up:

"Obama's Poll Numbers Are Falling to Earth"

The American people are expressing doubts about The One's initiatives, and according to some polling and survey data, likely support a different agenda and different policies from those that this administration has advanced.

Rasmussen Reports shows Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.

What Do You Really Know About Cap and Trade?

Cap and trade is a scheme to redistribute income and wealth -- but in a very curious way.  You need to know what this will really do to your wallets.

Cap-and-trade systems, also known as allowance trading, can be best summed up as "pollution credits."

What happens is that overall air quality goals are set for an area (such as the entire nation) and specific sources of air pollution (such as power plants, waste incineration facilities, etc.) are given a certain number of allowances, which represent the amount of various pollutants that the organization or facility is allowed to emit.

Facilities that come in under that allowable limit because of air pollution control systems can then sell their leftover allowances to other facilities and organizations on the open market.

This allows the facilities that buy up such allowances (pollution credits) to pollute more, because other facilities are polluting less.

Politicians, liberals in particular, love cap and trade because they can claim to be taxing "polluters," not workers.  But don't you believe it!

Hit hardest would be the "95% of working families" Mr. Obama keeps mentioning, usually omitting that his no-new-taxes pledge comes with the caveat "unless you use energy." Putting a price on carbon is regressive by definition because poor and middle-income households spend more of their paychecks on things like gas to drive to work, groceries or home heating.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the price hikes from a 15% cut in emissions would cost the average household in the bottom-income quintile about 3.3% of its after-tax income every year. That's about $680, not including the costs of reduced employment and output. The three middle quintiles would see their paychecks cut between $880 and $1,500, or 2.9% to 2.7% of income. The rich would pay 1.7%.

Another Flip Flop - Obama: Economic crisis 'not as bad as we think'

Just when we were preparing for the Great Depression II, Obamanation decides things
are not so bad after all!  And, of course, his plans to go on a never ending spending spree will speed recovery. Read the story.
