$75 Billion Mortgage Bailout Passed Today

We keep gettin' the money.  We are just so happy.  Let's go print some money.

Lattes all around!

Thanks, Kathy and Matt!

Obama's safety net: the Teleprompter

President Barack Obamanation doesn’t go anywhere without his Teleprompter. The textbook-sized panes of glass holding the president’s prepared remarks follow him wherever he speaks.

Obama has relied on a teleprompter through even the shortest announcements and when repeating the same lines on his economic stimulus plan that he's been saying for months — whereas past presidents have mostly worked off of notes on the podium except during major speeches, such as the State of the Union.

“It’s just something presidents haven’t done,” said Martha Joint Kumar, a presidential historian who has held court in the White House since December 1975.

Are you surprised?  Without the teleprompter, he might actually say what he truly thinks.

Pelosi Says, "They Are Lucky They Got What They Did."

I can't provide any link to corroborate this but it is being reported that San Fran Nan, when asked by Republicans were not included in drafting the CRAP bill or allowed to even read it as amended said, "They are lucky they got what they did.  I could have fast tracked this."

The Party of Rush vs. the Party of No Rush at All.

From Charles Krauthammer on Fox News last night:
What was hoped was that there would be a new team, new people, fresh ideas, who have a year, ‘08, in which to study and learn what went wrong and would have a plan in place. It is what Obama had said he had, they knew what to do and would do it. It looks as if they have no idea what to do, and they won’t. When Obama had his first press conference, he promised it would be a detailed plan by Geithner the next morning. There was none. The market tanked. It looks as if this administration is entirely at sea on what to do on the principle element of our collapse, the banks, and they may not have any idea is what is scaring the markets. If they don’t, we are all at sea.  Read the entire transcript.

Four football players were 35 miles out at sea, with life jackets on clinging to their overturned boat, waiting to be rescued.  After a matter of hours, two gave up, took off their life jackets and swam away -- hoping to get to land?  Impossible.  Then the third, thinking he saw lights, took off his life jacket and swam away toward the lights.  The fourth kept clinging to the boat, kept his life jacket on and was saved.

We can't give up.  Our beliefs are our life jackets and we must use them to combat the insanity this president proposes for our country.

Dems Trying to Rob a Gun Store?

Armed robbers are not the sharpest knives in the gene-pool drawer. However, most of them have figured out the basics: don’t try to rob gun stores or karate studios.

The Politico reports that Democrat strategists as early as October 2008 identified Rush Limbaugh as their next target of abuse, in terms of beating all conservatives and Republicans into submission.

For eight years the Dems and their media toadies relentlessly engaged in 24×7 attacks on President Bush - accusing him of every form of dishonesty, corruption, malfeasance, and stupidity. Their attack extended to all Republicans and the soldiers as well. Mostly Bush just hunkered down and took it (thanks again, genius Karl Rove, for that one), even though he could have responded, using the bully pulpit, in deadly effective counterattacks, by speaking directly to Americans without the media filter. Bush never would fight back, and his silence was exceedingly costly to himself, his agenda, conservatives, the Republicans, the soldiers, and the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rush is already fighting back — gleefully, articulately, with his trademark rapier-like wit, mockery, and humor.  He even challenged The One to come on his show for a debate.  Like Rush's op ed asking POTUS to not try to back door the Fairness Doctrine, no response.  But the Democrats have woefully, desperately miscalculated. Rush’s 20 million person listening audience is the most politically educated and astute bunch in America.  And all the publicity is bringing him even more listeners.

Top 2010 House Races -- Let's Get These Seats!

This simply confirms what we already know intuitively: having been crushed in two straight elections, House Republicans now hold relatively few seats that are in danger in 2010.  The Hill reports on the top 10 House races of 2010 — at least as of 20 months out. Seven of the ten are Democrat-held seats:

Idaho-1 — Walt Minnick (D)
Arizona-5 — Harry Mitchell (D)
Ohio-1 — Steve Driehaus (D)
Georgia-12 — John Barrow (D)
Hawaii-1 — Neil Abercrombie (D)
Kansas-1 — Jerry Moran (R)
Florida-17 — Kendrick Meek (D)
California-3 — Dan Lungren (R)
California-44 — Ken Calvert (R)
Florida-8 — Alan Grayson (D)

Check out the Cook Political Report.  Cook rates 6 Republican seats as ‘leans Republican’ or worse for next year.  By comparison, he rates 23 Democratic seats as ‘leans Democrat’ or worse.  In other words, every indication so far is that Republicans will be playing offense in 2010, and the Democrats will be on defense.  Especially if The Messiah's massive tax and spend policies haven't born fruit.  Of course, just like Florida oranges after a freeze, the cost will be dear if they do.

Wall Street Journal:
"As the Dow keeps dropping, the President is running out of people to blame."

The Wall Street Journal today didn't mince words.  "...After five weeks in office, it's become clear that Mr. Obama's policies are slowing, if not stopping, what would otherwise be the normal process of economic recovery.

The article went on to say, "The Democrats who now run Washington don't want to hear this, because they benefit from blaming all bad economic news on President Bush."  Read the entire article.

Meanwhile, after dissing PM Brown by not sharing a press
conference after their meeting today about the global economy,
Obamanation had one of his own and said,
 "The stock market is
sort of like a tracking poll in politics. It bobs up and down
day-to-day.  And if you spend all your time worrying about that,
then you're probably going to get the long-term strategy wrong."

Yes, wrong, oh Messiah!  You've got it all wrong!  The stock
market is an indicator of where our economy is - and conven-
tionally the predictor of where our economy is going.  It's not
a bobble head doll!

"This is the most, greatest wealth destruction I've seen by a president."

CNBC host Jim Cramer has angered The One.

Obama press secretary Gibbs, when asked about this by an NBC reporter at today's press briefing said, "I'm not entirely sure what he's pointing to make some of the statements," said Gibbs. "And you can go back and look at any number of statements he's made in the past about the economy and wonder where some of the back-up for those are too."

Looks like some of us regular folks are getting it.  You betcha!

NBC/WSJ Poll: Support for Obama, but Challenges Await

Give me a break!  His disapproval ratings have doubled.

Identifying More RINOs

POTUS (Presidential Orifice of the United States) can sleep tight tonight. The Senate just voted to keep all those earmarks that don’t exist in the $410 billion spending bill.

GOP (sorta) Sen. John McCain’s amendment stripping the omni-pork package of an estimated 8,500 pet projects worth roughly $8 billion was defeated this afternoon. You can find a database of all those teeny, tiny pork projects here.

You can see the Republicans who voted for and against.  Also the Dems who voted with Republicans, so those who voted with us should be contacted and applauded.

Lots more from today but I'm done for tonight.

Rush Rocks the House -- Update
RNC Chair Michael Steele Put His Foot In It Bigtime...

On CNN's "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News" Saturday night after Rush's speech at CPAC, Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele told Hughley that Rush Limbaugh is not the head of the Republican party, but merely an "entertainer" -- and went on to call Limbaugh's anti-Obama rhetoric "incendiary" and "ugly."

Rush fired back on his Monday program, "The Republican National Committee and Michael Steele need a little leadership ... we're going to have to drag them kicking and screaming back to our core," Limbaugh said.

"They are caught up in so much fear because of where they live and work in Washington, DC," he added.

“I'm not in charge of the Republican Party, and I don't want to be. I would be embarrassed to say that I'm in charge of the Republican Party in the sad-sack state that it's in.  If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it's in, I would quit. I might get out the hari-kari knife because I would have presided over a failure that is embarrassing to the Republicans and conservatives who have supported it and invested in it all these years.”

Perhaps Rush was so upset because he had helped Steele when he was running for Governor of Maryland, a seat he held for 4 years from 2003 to 2007.

"Michael Steele was on this program ... he got air time on this program ... I personally
took time to defend Michael Steele ... Something has happened. Now, I'm just an 'entertainer', and now I'm 'ugly' and my program is 'incendiary'."

It wasn't long before Steele issued an "apology."

“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

Unfortunately, this comes at a time when when top Democrats are trying to make Limbaugh the face of the Republican Party.  Acknowledging this, Steele went on to say,
“I’m not going to engage these guys and sit back and provide them the popcorn for a fight between me and Rush Limbaugh,” Steele added. “No such thing is going to happen. … I wasn’t trying to slam him or anything.”

Does the left going after Rush indicate they are worried his message will strike a nerve with Americans?  Let's hope so.  But it may make them even more rabid to back door the Fairness Doctrine.

Putin Warns U.S. About Flirting With Socialism.

At the recent World Economic Forum, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned of our government’s flirtations with socialism, that is, a state-run economy.

Trying not to “gloat,” Putin told the U.S. that “Excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence” is a “mistake.” He reminded listeners that state control of the old Soviet economy made the nation “totally uncompetitive.”

Romney Wins CPAC Straw Poll

For the third straight year, Mitt Romney won the CPAC presidential preference straw poll with 20% of the vote. Bobby Jindal finished with 14%, just ahead of Ron Paul and Sarah Palin, who got 13% each.

Newt Gingrich finished with 10%, Mike Huckabee 7%, Mark Sanford 4%, Rudy Giuliani 3%, Tim Pawlenty 2%, Charlie Crist 1%, and 9% said they were undecided.

However, just 55% said they were satisfied with the potential GOP 2012 field; 44% said they wished the Republicans had a better field.

And Speaking of Charlie Crist...

He's the fourth RINO be inducted into the RINO Hall of Shame.
I didn't pay much attention to him when he wasLt. Gov of the
state of FL under Jeb Bush, who did anadmirable job and
should be on the national scene.

As recently as February 22 of this year, he was on Meet
the Press supporting the fiscal bridge to nowhere.  He
slobbered all over Obama when he was here in Fort Myers and
seemed delighted to have the spotlight on Lee County as the
capital of the country.

Crist is a prime example of why independents are refusing
to vote for Republicans. This is the cancer that is eating away at the GOP. This "need to be loved by all" is the death knell of the Grand Old Party.  You cannot win over lefties by moving left.

Gee, how smart am I?  Didn't Rush say that Saturday?

Obama Declares War on Investors, Entrepreneurs, Businesses, And More

Larry Kudlow, CEO of Kudlow & Co., LLC, an economic and investment research firm and host of CNBC’s "Kudlow & Company," made this statement in a blog post on Friday.  The question is, he asks, do conservatives dare say: We told you so?

Rush Rocks the House -- "We are not going to give up the American dream."

"We are in for a real battle. We are talking about the United States of America... remaining the country we were all born into and reared and grown into.  And it is under assault, it has always been under assault. But it has never been under assault like this, from within."

This was just one of Rush Limbaugh's thoughts he shared during his speech at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) today.

Never one to back down from criticism or a challenge, Rush reiterated his statement that he wanted Obamanation's policies to fail.

"Why in the world would I want...rampant government growth, welfare that is not being created yet is being spent? What is in this, what is possibly in this that any of us want to succeed? Did the Democrats want the war of Iraq to fail? They certainly did. And they not only wanted the war in Iraq to fail they proclaimed it a failure.... They hoped George Bush failed. So what is so strange about being honest and saying I want Barack Obama to fail  if his mission is to restructure and reform this country so that capitalism and individual liberty are not its foundation?"

"We can take this country back. All we need is to nominate the right candidate," he said.

See his entire speech.  I certainly hope you have time to view it or read the transcript.

While some Conservatives think Rush can go over the top, and I have to admit I agree at times, he is THE voice for conservatism.  True conservatism.  Sean, Glenn, Mark and others get the message out also, but no one does it like Rush.

"The Constitution doesn't need to be redefined. Conservative intellectuals, the Declaration of Independence does not need to be redefined and neither does conservatism. Conservatism is what it is and it is forever. It's not something you can bend and shape and flake and form. "

"I want the country to survive and to succeed. I want the US to survive as we know it."

"Everyone I Know Is Buying Ammunition."

Appearing on Glenn Beck's show, country music singer Trace Adkins, who began his singing career in grammar school singing in a Gospel choir, responded to Glenn's revelation about the great increase in the purchase of firearms and ammunition.  Adkins stated, "Everyone I know is buying ammunition.  You can't hardly find any in Florida and Texas."

The interview went on to discuss how Americans feel they will be needing to protect their constitutionally given rights, even the right to free speech.

I will try to get a transcript of this interview and post it here.

Guess Obama was right when he said, "...they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Obama's new policies are making many frustrated as they watch the America we know come under fire.  So some ARE clinging to their guns and religion.  And that's a good thing, IMHO.

Obama Will Move to Rescind ‘Conscience’ Rule on Abortion, Birth Control

Just noticed this as a headline on Comcast.net's home page.  Here's the scoop:

"During the last months of the Bush administration, the feds adopted a new rule that could allow health-care workers to refuse to provide birth control on moral grounds. Now the Obama administration is moving to reverse that rule, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Existing federal law allows health-care workers to refuse on moral grounds to provide abortions. The new rule strengthened and extended those protections. While some groups, such as the Christian Medical & Dental Associations, supported the move, many others, including several state attorneys general and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, opposed the rule.

There have been recent reports of women being denied emergency contraception, which is federally approved for use within 72 hours of intercourse, the Trib says.

The Obama administration will start the process of reversing the rule today. Final action won’t be taken until after the public is allowed a 30-day comment period."

Why the rush to push through his liberal, socialist agenda?  Today he also announced the redeployment of 70,000 to 80,000 troops from Iraq but leaving 50,000.  And he did so 20 minutes late -- rather than 11:45 AM it was delayed until a little after noon.  Lunchtime, Rush time.

And, historically, it is preferred that negative stories break on Friday since folks are thinking about the weekend and won't pay attention.  So he's not getting all the troops out as he promised?  Break that on a Friday!  Spit in the face of Christians who believe in the sanctity of life?  Do it on a Friday!

What's going on?  What is the hurry with all this?  Obamanation cannot possibly have consulted with professionals and contrived all these initiatives in 5 weeks.  It would take
a week to read the stimulus act, never mind write it.  Who drafted these with him before he was ever inaugurated?  Before he ever had a cabinet?  Before he ever had an office in the White House.

It's scary.

Tea Parties All Over the Place This Friday!

I had hoped to attend the Tea Party Protest at Fort
Myers Beach today but work commitments prevented
me from doing so.  If I had, I would have been carrying
a sign with pictures of my ten grandchildren and the
slogan, "Obama, you owe them an apology for robbing
them of their future!"

This is a fledging effort and many did not know about it
soon enough, including good conservative friend Dave.
There was one some way away from him in Lansing
but he did not have time to drive there.  I know he
would have wanted to be there.

Let's make sure these events keep happening and growing in numbers!  And if you can, sponsor one yourself.  Click here.

In my opinion

I've worked hard all my life, as has the Chuckster, so we could have a comfortable later life.  Yada, yada, yada.  I've written about this before.

Today I went to Target to pick up some advertised paper goods.  At checkout, the young lady probably being paid about a quarter above minimum wage was wearing more gold than I own!  (Trust me, I know gold when I see it!  This wasn't the plated stuff.)

Obamanation says he will go line by line to root out pork (yeah, right!)  Maybe he should go line by line on the credit card charges of all these folks who are wanting a bailout because they can't afford to pay their mortgages!

Daughter-in-law Polly reports a couple who bought in their neighborhood with 100% financing then bought motorcycles, jet skis and other toys.  Living beyond their means.  But why?  Didn't they ever hear about budgets or spending only what they could afford?

Was it not because liberals told them they deserved it?  Or maybe failed to teach them about personal responsibility?  Every toy we own, and that's not many, we worked to buy.

I'm proud my family works hard and hope they are not the casualties in this class war.  Because they deserve toys when they work hard for them, not to provide them to other families.
